Medicare Part D Senior Savings Model: Who’s in?
This white paper discusses the new Medicare Part D Senior Savings Model (SSM) launched Jan. 1 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The SSM is part of an effort to reduce non-low-income (NLI) beneficiary cost sharing for insulin products distributed under the Medicare Part D benefit. The paper discusses which organizations are participating, then offers a detailed look at the SSM with respect to Medicare Advantage plans with prescription drug coverage (MAPDs), including what types of plans are participating, and where the SSM will be offered to MAPD enrollees. The paper also notes that there’s essentially no difference in the enrollment-weighted average-star rating among participating and nonparticipating MAPD plans.
