Analysis of non-life insurers' Solvency and Financial Condition Reports: European non-life insurers year-end 2022
For this report, we analysed 728 solo companies that conduct primarily non-life business across 13 European Union (EU) member states, the United Kingdom, and Gibraltar. We found mixed results in terms of financial performance across countries and lines of business for 2022. We first discuss European market coverage, underlying data, COVID-19, and the Russia-Ukraine war. Using data from solvency and financial condition reports (SFCRs) for year-end 2022, we then present an analysis of the following:
- Solvency coverage ratios: company performance
- Solvency capital requirements and minimum capital requirements: Where is the risk?
- Own funds
- Main balance sheet items
- Underwriting
