Dr. Merkey has more than a decade of experience in the healthcare analytics space. His work has included significant development of analytical processes for claims analysis, actuarial reserving, risk adjustment, provider reimbursement, and population health applications. Prior to joining Milliman, Dr. Merkey spent several years in both actuarial and clinical analytics teams at a regional health insurer.

Dr. Merkey's early academic work centered on the application of mathematical methods to understand drivers of emergent behavior in natural systems, a methodological angle that he has carried with him into healthcare.
